CHINMAYA TARANGINI

Seated on the shores of Bay of Bengal, Chinmaya Tarangini is a meditation park and temple dedicated to Sri Matsya Narayana, the first avatar of Sri Vishnu. 108 pillars stand guarding this open to sea and open to sky shrine, with each pillar inscribed with 10 names of the Lord from Vishnu Sahasranamam. The pillars guide the devotees to meditate upon His infinite names and forms, while the sounds of the waves lap in ceaseless chants. The pillars are also dedicated to the 108 names of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, whose life and work is embodied in the contemplation of this ashtottara.

Chinmaya Tarangini houses majestic idols of Sri Ganesha, Chinmaya Mrityunjaya Shiva and Chinmaya Maruti. Another unique installation in the meditation park is the Gita Ratha, a chariot driven by the Masters across the ages- Sri Krishna, Bhagwan Veda Vyasa, Adi Sankaracharya and Swami Chinmayananda. The vahanas of different deities guard the main premises and the meditation park itself is designed for the devotee to revel along with the elements of the Universe.

Chinmaya Tarangini was inaugurated by Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda on 24th May, 2015 during the Birth Centenary year of Swami Chinmayananda. At Chinmaya Tarangini, classes for children, youth and adults are scheduled across the weekend. On special occasions and festivals, abhishekam, archana and homams are taken up on behalf of patrons.

Every Sunday at 5.30 AM, a Gayatri homam is performed, which is free for all to take part in. Additionally, on weekends, a special arti is performed at 6PM for the main deities and a unique sagara arti is dedicated to the Oceans. Patrons and volunteers are welcome to visit, contribute and participate in all the events at Chinmaya Tarangini.

Adjoining the meditation park, the ashram comprises of camping facilities for 40 members with comfortable accommodation, conference hall facilities and dining area. Additionally, an open to sea portico, Ganga Sagar, designed especially to host yoga sessions, outdoor activities, team workshops and meditation sittings.
