Activities
Area Yagna

PoojyaGurudev had conducted GnanaYagnas at various locations, be it city or town. Due to paucity of time and multivarious activities and growth of Chinmaya Mission as a global organization, it was decided to have yagnas by other Acharyas of Chinmaya Mission in the towns and suburbs of the cities.

Objective: To share the message of Vedanta through a series of talks to a larger number of people over a specified period and enable them to involve and participate in the activities of Chinmaya Mission.

Area yagna, is a series of talks for a specific period on a scriptural text in an area organized by the locals/study group members, under the fold of Chinmaya Mission. It is one of the most important activities to spread the knowledge of our scriptures. In Chennai, 18 area yagnas, 3 zonal yagnasis conducted every year and Mahayagna of PujyaGuruji Swami Tejomayanandji is conducted once in two years. Through these area yagnas, hundreds of people are reached every month in a particular area. The area yagnacommittee will look after organizing the Gnanayagnaincluding fixing the venue, finance, publicity, arrangements in the venue, etc. Acharyas from centers inside and outside Tamilnadu are invited to perform the Gnanayagna. The topics for the yagnasinclude Bhagvad Gita, Upanishads, and other scriptural texts. Generally, the language of yagna will be Tamil or English and occasionally it will be conducted in Telugu or Malayalam according to the requirement of the area.

When an area yagna is successfully conducted, the active group in that area will start a study group and balaviharto continue the activities of Chinmaya Mission. This way the message of the scriptures spreads.
